President’s Message
Welcome Spring!! It sure feels
good to have the sunshine back after the
cold months of winter. For those who
don’t know me yet, my name is Rick
Bowes, and I’m the new President of the
Northeast Chapter of the Falcon Club of
America. I have a 1963 Sprint
Convertible (Springtime Yellow) that I
drive everywhere, and I do mean
everywhere. I drive her all over New
England and I have even taken her to the
National shows in California in 2005 and
Indianapolis in 2006. I hope to take her
to the Regional show in Maryland in
August.
We’ve had a great turnout at the
monthly meetings. We’ve had the
pleasure of meeting several new members
and we look forward to meeting more
new members in the future. We have
many new ideas of activities for the
summer months. Our May and June
meetings will be held at local car shows
so we can get out there with the cars, too.
(Check the meeting information below.)
Another idea I have is to have a
weekend car ride where we choose a
location or area. We leave in the
morning, stop at a point of interest, travel
to a restaurant and stay overnight at a
hotel. One possibility is driving the
Mohawk Trail (Rt. 2 in North West
Massachusetts) in October to see the
foliage and do a trip to Bennington, VT
with a dinner on the Hairpin Turn in
North Adams, MA and then stay at a
local hotel. This really is a beautiful ride
in the fall. Please let me know if this
might be of interest to anyone.
We have our Regional Show
coming up the weekend of August 24 –
25 in Sturbridge, MA. We have had our
shows here in the past and everyone
loved it so much we decided to go back
again. It will be at the Sturbridge Host
Hotel. The show is located on the grass
area, by the lake. It really is a beautiful
setting. Please join us and please register
early so we will have an idea of how
many cars will be attending.
Please feel free to contact me if
you have any questions or suggestions,
either by telephone (401-823-1059) or by
email (falconsprint@aol.com).
